Medical data preservation at scale

This paper describes work related to scalable preservation, processing and access of medical information, including data ingest, anonymisation, analysis and cloud storage. The work was done in the framework of the EU co-funded SCAPE project, which was focused on scalable preservation environments for heterogeneous collections of data. Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC) together with Wielkopolska Center of Pulmonology and Thoracosurgery hospital (WCPT) were responsible for medical data related work. PSNC developed a solution for external data storage services, while WCPT identified usecases in the context of medical data preservation. In order to overcome existing barriers and identified challenges, PSNC worked together with WCPT on so called Medical Data Center concept (MDC) and was able to extend its service portfolio using HPC infrastructure on a scenario related to medical data preservation.
