AGE-OX –Serving the Global Network Architecture from the Gulf

In early 2014 New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) joined with Ankabut and Internet2 to explore ways to improve connectivity from UAE to the U.S. via Singapore initially, and eventually to Europe. These discussions led to the design and implementation of the Arabian Global Education Open Exchange (AGE-OX) in Fujairah, UAE. This presentation will identify and describe benefits of establishing a Global Open Exchange Point (GXP) in the Arabian Gulf region with high-speed connectivity to the Global Network Architecture. This session will inform attendees of the AGE-OX facility and its capabilities, identify the role of the AGE-OX in the global network architecture and identify ways other NRENs and universities can engage with the AGE-OX to broaden the global reach in the Gulf.
