Federated Operations in an Intercontinental Network Environment

With multiple NRENs collaborating buying high-speed intercontinental transmission facilities to share the usage and the cost, and landing at Open Lightpath Exchanges, it is paramount that a well defined set of operations paradigms is defined, agreed, and implemented. This is even more important when the environment is multi-vendor and involves commercial carriers as well. The Federated Operations model has been tried inside ANA-100G, and this talk elaborates on its history, on lessons learned and on the way forward.
