Legacy resources in the Research and Education community

Internet number resources obtained prior to or otherwise outside the current hierarchical Internet registry system are considered legacy resources. The RIPE NCC maintains and publishes registry data, provides reverse DNS delegation and a routing registry for IP addresses and AS Numbers, both of which include legacy resources. In 2014, the RIPE community accepted a policy that establishes the principles to be applied in offering and implementing registry services for legacy resource holders, a high number of whom reside within the Research and Education community. This session will give a brief overview of the RIPE Policy and will be focused on the NRENs and the legacy resource holders of the R&E community. It is intended as a starting point for interested attendees to become informed, have their questions answered and any potential issues addressed during TNC15 and beyond.
