Erik-Jan Bos

Already back in 1987, right after his graduation from Delft University of Technology where he did research into the performance of wide area networks, Erik-Jan got heavily involved with data networking for research and education, as he started to work for SURFnet, the Dutch national R&E Network.

After working for SURFnet, for more than 23 years, he left his CTO position at SURFnet to pursue other challenges, remaining committed to data networking for research and education.

Since 2011, Erik-Jan works for NORDUnet, in the department of International Research Initiatives. In this capacity, Erik-Jan is project leader of the Advanced North Atlantic Project, better known as ANA-100G, that created the world's first intercontinental 100 Gbit/s connection. He is also the co-chair of the Global Network Architecture working group, operating under the auspices of the Global R&E Network CEO Forum, that aims at creating a blueprint for a future network interconnect for R&E on a global scale.
